People That Care Timeline
The ptc center was led under the faithful and compassionate direction of Jim and Trish Morton along with input from many Shady Grove Church pastors in the early years and also Arnie Morton joining in the 90’s. The International division was launched in 1993 when the Phillips returned from the field, and they worked hand in hand until 2003 when they became one.
1982 The Beginning
1983 One of the first mission trips to Guatemala. Team of 20 lasted, 6 weeks
1986 Phillips to Costa Rica
Nicaraguan refugees, church establishment, outreach to the poor in San Jose
1993 People That Care International begins- first shipments valued at- 450,000 to Romania, Honduras and Mexico
1994 Cuba-(shipment of food, bibles, and scripture books) and Kurdistan
1995 Trip to Yugoslavia with food and medicine
1996 Romania-food and toys to orphanages
1997 Shipments of food, medicine, blankets and medical equipment toGhana- Honduras- Mexico- Guatemala- Morocco- Israel- Egypt- Pakistan
Nicaragua- Yugoslavia- Ukraine- Costa Rica- Cuba- all food medicine and medical equipment-blankets
1998 First trip to Cuba bringing medicine and funds to purchase food in country, toys and medicine to Honduras, portable dental clinic and medicine to Costa Rica, trip to Ukraine afterwhich the soup kitchens began to the elderly, orphanages, along with warm clothing shipped.
1999 Brought shipments of food, medicine, blankets and medical equipment to Albania during the Kosovo crisis- Cuba- Springfest Dallas- Romania- Burkina Faso- Belarus- trip to Ukraine- Russia- Mexico- N. Korea- Sudan- Mexico- Philippines
2000 Brought shipments of food, medicine, blankets and medical equipment to Mexico (medical clinic), Ukraine, Romania, Mozambique, Venezuela, Peru, medicines for free clinic in Euless- Kosovo- Springfest
2001 9/11- New York- Houston, Texas and West Virginia flood relief-Holiday Of Hope-back to school-. Brought shipments of food, medicine, blankets and medical equipment to Honduras- Haiti- Afghanistan-blankets/metroplex- El Salvador- Liberia- Morocco- trip to Nicaragua (medical clinic) Somalia
2002 Brought shipments of food, medicine, blankets and medical equipment to Bolivia-, Haiti- Moldova- Mexico- Romania-Holiday Of Hope-back to school-tornado relief Ft. Worth Texas- new clothing purchased to help abused women reenter the workplace
2003 Dallas Springfest- Haiti- Holiday Of Hope-back to school- People That Care Center has tripled its reach to the communities
2004 Over 56 million in pharmaceuticals shipped around the world, VBS materials to St Lucia-Brought food and medicine to Haiti- Nicaragua-support to local ministries tripled
2005 Katrina & Rita shipments of food, medicine, blankets and medical equipment aid- Haiti- Mexico- Burkina Faso- Sri Lanka- Ukraine- Honduras- Romania-Holiday Of Hope- back to school, title one school outreach
