From the mouths of People That Care:
A letter from counselor Steve Taylor,
When I say that I volunteer at a food bank, one might visualize me assessing a family’s need for food, meeting that need, and then, perhaps, suggest other organizations that might also help them. PEOPLE THAT CARE it is much more than that.
PEOPLE THAT CARE is praying for someone that has never before received a personal prayer. It is giving someone a smile that has not received one in a long time. It is giving a person with AIDS, starved for affection, a hug. PEOPLE THAT CARE is helping an abused spouse find a safe place to stay. It is listening to a spouse whose mate has been deported, or is separated because of marital problems. It is giving spiritual support to someone that has lost a loved one. PEOPLE THAT CARE is saying encouraging words, being kind, and showing love. It is leading someone into a personal relationship with the Lord. It is rejoicing over answered prayer.
Over the years PEOPLE THAT CARE has been able to help children with supplies as they go back to school, bless families during Thanksgiving, and provide gifts for children at Christmas time. We have been able to aid families during floods and hurricanes. Again, I say we are more than just a food bank.
A letter from volunteer Morgan Mercer,
While working as a student volunteer at the PEOPLE THAT CARE center in Grand Prairie, I was able to experience the love and generosity of fellow Christian volunteers. I saw that every day, many people who are in need of food come to the PEOPLE THAT CARE center to receive not only food, but also love, support, and direction in their walk with Christ. It was touching to be able to assist in providing essentials for these people who are less fortunate. I enjoyed meeting and praying for them; then to see the smile on their face when they received encouragement was very exciting. The PEOPLE THAT CARE Center is a wonderful charity organization that is a great blessing in God’s Kingdom.
When People That Care provides international relief we start by bringing shipments of food and medicine and distribute the necessities throughout the needy community. We send teams of doctors to countries where the people are starved for medical attention, providing surgeries and treatment to thousands of men, women, and children. When an unfortunate natural disaster devastates the helpless, we’ve sent hundreds of thousands of dollars in their aid and with that money goes a People That Care representative to insure that money is spent properly and where it is needed most, safeguarding your donations from being squandered by the greedy and corrupt.
